by CosmonautX (UN), 2012-01-26, 17:35 Spam? ... Hi, all Hoping someone can help with the translation of an obituary of a family member who died in the 1930s. All I have to go on are the two clippings here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/buttonman/VaclavSeykII-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/buttonman/VaclavSeykI.jpg A contact roughly translated the second clipping as: An architect and archaeologist, and a contributor to the Central Matice scholarship fund (?), he was a loyal member of the nation, although he lived abroad for many years. He died on 5th March 1933 at the age of 82. A private funeral for family and friends was held on 8th March at the central chapel in Olšany. P.V. writes this very interesting obituary, proof that the scholarship has supporters among the noblest men and scholars of our country: "Václav Seyk,... » show full text

Term: | Grammar details | » answer |
Dear colleagues! I wonder what you think about the addition which was made to this entry: http://csen.contribute.dict.cc/?action=edit&id=248964 How far shall we go with providing grammar details? For those among you who understand German: Please join the discussion in the EN-DE forum.
Answer: | See #524192 | #524200 |
Answer: | romy | #524269 |
by I've explained this in emails with you: In "The red balloon" the adjective red is an attributive adjective. The same is true with this word. The examples you brought up only confirm that it is an attributive adjective. The "prime" number. Prime is attributive to number. The "prime" location. Prime is attributive to location. Hope this helps, Razorflame
Answer: | [attr.] is a valid addition now | #524368 |
It has been discussed and decided in the DE-EN forum that, in certain cases only, such an addition shall be added, and this new rule has been incorporated in the guidelines (No. 9). 4; Razorflame: I did not argue that 'prime' was not an attributive adjective. Of course it is. My question was whether providing such explicit grammar details was really necessary, or just confusing. You have got your point.

Term: | Entry of Czech adjectives | » answer |
Dear colleagues, do you agree that we should enter Czech adjectives in all three genders {m} | {f} | {n} ? I found that my printed dictionaries only state the male forms. What do you think is more appropriate for this one?
Answer: | #451096 | |
I have also checked my printed dictionaries, and found out that only the male form is stated. However, I would go for stating all three genders.
